Triggers to Unworthy Thinking

Unworthiness is an emotion.

Emotions are triggered through circumstances. Rather good or bad!

You can’t escape emotions, but you can avoid the negativity that comes alongside tragedies, by choosing not to give into unworthy thinking.

I have listed a few triggers to watch out for!

  • Abuse
  • Rejection
  • Death of a love one

Abuse – misuse

The darkness behind abuse will prevail against your thinking to make you believe that you deserved everything that has happened to you. The darkness will make you feel unworthy. It will cause you to question yourself, “How can I be worth anything and getting abused?” Abusive situations do not make you unworthy; your thoughts are what make you feel unworthy.

Pray and Think your way through and out of all abusive situations.

Any form of abuse is against the will of God and the plans for your life. When He created you, He did NOT say, “I want them to be raped,” He did NOT say, “I want their spouse to hit them” He did NOT say, “I would prefer they get disrespected by their children.”

God never said these things.

His Word says!

When situations arise He will be there!

He said, He would curse those who curse you. He said, be not afraid, for I will be with you. He said, He would never leave you nor forsake.

Abuse will make you feel as if you are undeserving of love. That is the lie of the enemy;

YOU are deserving of love.

Jesus bled on the cross for you.

He wept for you.

He bottled up your tears.

I destroy every form of abuse in the name of Jesus.

Rejection – dismissing or refusing

Will cause you to question your very being for living. I believe this trigger is one of the major causes to the thoughts of unworthiness. Rejection has nothing to do with the person on the other end of the rejection, but more to do with what you are battling with on the inside of you. Rejection will cause you to feel unworthy. It will make you feel broken and torn down on the inside. Rejection is another tactic of the enemy.

Overcome the tactics of the enemy with not giving in to the pressures that come from feeling rejected. Overcome with a knowing that God has a plan, position and purpose for you. You are not being rejected you are being covered because God has a hedge around you. The next time you feel rejected, say this “Lord, I thank you for protecting me.”

You are so worthy that God is keeping you close to Him.

Death of a loved one – transitioning

Death can be the worst pain, but it is also inevitable. However, a death does not determine your worthiness. Your worth is not based on whether they live or die.

ATTENTION: Those who believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, you know there is life after death.

I understand, even knowing that we do not own our bodies. Death is a hard pill to swallow when you have lost a loved one. I was 32 years old when I became a widow. I questioned God as to why, how, and I questioned His love for my children and for me.

God, do I mean anything to you, am I not worthy to live a semi-normal life. That’s how I questioned Him.

The shock of death will make you feel less than who the Word of the Lord says you are. But the reality of everything is, no matter what happens in life, you are valuable to Christ.

Your value is SOLELY based on if you believe what Jesus Christ has said about you.

How do we deal with death determines the path we will take after the burial. No one person is the same; do not feel defeated if you did not heal faster than your sister or brother. Healing takes time; just make sure you are working towards wholeness in your healing.

If you do not get to a posture of healthiness, the hands of the enemy will try and defeat your every move, and he will try and control your every thought. Telling you lies.

Truth is! You are not alone, and it is not your fault. You are not worthless.

Overcome your thoughts with positive emotions.
